Larsen, Glanzman lead Ice Dogs into NE10 Semis

Worcester, Mass. -- The Ice Dogs of Assumption got their offense on a roll at the best possible time Saturday evening, defeating Stonehill College, 5-2 in the quarterfinals of the Northeast-10 Conference playoffs.

Assumption junior forward (and Conference player of the year) Taylor Larsen (Blackstone, Mass./Worcester Academy) had two goals and two assists, while junior Kevin Glanzman (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) had two goals. Junior goalkeeper Nick Blanchette (Stuart, Fl./Worcester Academy) had 27 saves with both goals against coming off of power play opportunities for the Skyhawks. Freshman defender Nick Mattiello (Johnston, RI/Bishop Hendricken) scored the eventual game winner 1:58 into the third period.

For Stonehill, the Skyhawks to a 1-0 lead in the first period off a goal by junior forward Patrick Greene (Weymouth, Mass./Catholic Memorial), 5:23 into the game. They would later tie the game at 2-2 on a score by sophomore defender Tyler Gordon (Franklin, Mass./Xavarian Brothers) 1:12 into the third period. Senior goalkeeper Derek Chapdelaine (Granby, Mass./Springfield Cathedral) had 19 saves.

After giving up the game-tying goal early in the third period, the persistent Ice Dogs would go on a roll, scoring three straight goals and shutting out Stonehill for the rest of the game.

The Ice Dogs will play on the road in the Confernce Semifinals on Wednesday, March 2, opponent to be determined.
