Seton Hill rallies to defeat Greyhound field hockey . . .
Seton Hill 3, Assumption 2
WORCESTER, Mass. --- Seton Hill University
scored three second-half goals en route to defeating Assumption
College, 3-2, in the Greyhounds season opener FRIDAY in the
Multi-Sport Stadium.
Junior midfielder MEG DOW (West
Bridgewater, MA/West Bridgewater) opened the scoring in the first
half for the Greyhounds on a nice feed from senior forward BRITTANY
BOYLE (Grafton, MA/Grafton) at 21:17. Senior DANIELLE
LUONGO (Northboro, MA/Algonquin) made five saves as the
home team led at halftime.
The Griffins scored three straight goals in the
second half to take control of the contest. Senior forward
KRISTA ARCHAMBEAU (East Rochester, NY/East
Rochester) tied the game on a goala at 37:07 assisted by freshman
forward HEATHER APODACA (Huntington Beach,
CA/Edison).
Unassisted goals by sophomore forward
JANELLE HOFER (Wind Gap, PA/Nazareth) at 42:57 and
by junior forward ALLEGRA RAMOS (Bensalem,
PA/Saint Hubert’s) at 48:44 made it a two-goal game at
3-1.
The Greyhounds however came back to make it
close contest as the same scoring duo of the first goal came back
again. This time Boyle scored the goal with Dow assisting at
59:58.
Luongo finished with eight saves for the
Greyhounds, while sophomore keeper BRITTANY PARKER
(Madison, CT/Daniel Hand) made five saves for the Griffins.
Seton Hill outshot the Greyhounds, 15-11, while
Assumption held an 8-7 penalty corner advantage,
The Greyhounds, now 0-1. are right back in
action SATURDAY as they host Mercyhurst College (Erie, PA) at 4
p.m. in the Multi-Sport Stadium. Seton Hill, now 1-1, is next
in action SATURDAY at Adelphi University at 2 p.m.
