Bentley stops Greyhound field hockey in NE-10 match

WALTHAM, Mass. --- Sophomore goalkeeper
JULIA POWELL (Southbury, CT/Pomperaug) made two
saves to lead Bentley University past Assumption College, 3-1, in a
Northeast-10 Conference women’s field hockey game here
SATURDAY.
Sophomore midfielder KAITLYN
MARCINEK (Southbury, CT/Pomperaug) scored the only goal of
the first half, her first of the season, on a feed from freshman
forward BRANDY ASPLUNDH (Huntingdon Valley,
PA/Academy of the New Church).
The Falcons would then score two second-half
goals, both the first of the season for the players, by junior
midfielder TORI BERGANTINO (Waltham, MA/Waltham)
at 44:47 and junior midfielder STEPHENIE SIDERIS
(Watertown, MA/Waltham) at 49:34.
Sophomore midfielder JESS MAC
DONALD (Morris, CT/Wamogo) scored for the Greyhounds to
avert the shutout at 58:50 on a feed from freshman forward
STACIA TYMPANICK (Millville,
MA/Blackstone-Millville).
Senior goalkeeper DANIELLE
LUONGO (Northboro, MA/Algonquin) made nine saves in net
for the Greyhounds. Bentley outshot the Greyhounds 18-6 and
held an 11-3 advantage in penalty corners.
Bentley is now 4-4 overall and 1-0 in the
conference, while the Greyhounds slip to 0-8 overall and 0-3 in the
conference. Assumption is next in action TUESDAY when they
travel to Northeast-10 Conference rival Saint Anselm College for a
4 p.m. start.
