Kelley DeWalt's goal leads Greyhounds women's soccer past New Haven, 1-0, for first victory in Northeast-10 Conference action

WEST HAVEN, Conn. --- Senior midfielder KELLEY DE WALT (Londonderry, NH/Londonderry) scored the game's only goal as Assumption College defeated previously undefeated University of New Haven, 1-0, in Northeast-10 Conference women's soccer here TUESDAY.

Junior goalkeeper LAUREN KEATING (Nashua, NH/Nashua North) posted the shutout for the Greyhounds making six saves as first-year head coach GLENN MELIA posted his first victory as Assumption College mentor.

Entering the game the Greyhounds were 0-2 having been blanked by Saint Anselm (0-1) and Merrimack (0-3), while New Haven had posted four straight shutout wins over Post (6-0), Molloy (2-0), Southern Connecticut (1 0) and Bentley (2-0).

DeWalt scored the goal at 37:37, unassisted, on a blast from 20-feet, just beyond the box.

Charger sophomore goalkeeper KIM TAYLOR (Patchogue, NY/Patchogue-Medford) made two saves for New Haven. New Haven outshot the Greyhounds, 13-2, and had a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.

New Haven is now 4-1 overall and 2-1 in the conference, while the Greyhounds are 1-2 overall and 1-2 in the conference. Assumption hosts non-conference rival Dowling SATURDAY at 1 p.m. New Haven hosts non conference rival Georgian Court THURSDAY.
