Southern New Hampshire defeats Hounds women's lacrosse

WORCESTER, Mass. --- Junior attack SHERRY DARRELL (Bow, NH/Bow) scored nine goals to increase her season total to 45 leading Southern New Hampshire University past Assumption College, 18-5, in Northeast-10 Conference women's lacrosse action Wednesday night at the Multi-Sport Stadium.
Junior midfielder ERIN THERIAULT (Feeding Hills, MA/Agawam) led the Greyhounds with three goals, while freshman midfielder STEPH O'ROURKE (Amherst, NH/Souhegan) and DANIELLE D'AMICO (Johnston, RI/LaSalle Academy) had one apiece.
S.N.H.U. senior attack CAROLE LEE (Derry, NH/Pinkerton Academy) and senior defender JAMI SHUGRUE (Lowell, MA/Lowell) had four goals each.
The Penmen outshot the Greyhounds (38-14) and Assumption held a 24-14 advantage in ground balls.
Sophomore goalkeeper HANNAH MORIARTY (Chelmsford, MA/Chelmsford) had seven saves for Southern New Hampshire, while sophomore JULIE VERBIC (Mansfield, MA/Mansfield) made nine saves for the Greyhounds.
The Greyhounds, now 1-7 overall and 0-6 in the conference are at Saint Michael's College Saturday in another Northeast-10 Conference game. Southern New Hampshire is now 6-4 overall and 5-1 in conference action and hosts conference rival Southern Connecticut Saturday at 4 p.m.
