Pace stops Hound women's hoop despite Meredith's 24 points

WORCESTER, Mass. --- Senior forward TAYLOR LOSEY (Bristol, CT/Bristol Eastern) scored 20 points to lead five double-figure scorers as Pace University defeated Assumption College, 70-49, in Northeast-10 Conference womens basketball Saturday at the Laska Gym.
Sophomore forward KELLY MEREDITH (Franklin, MA/Franklin) scored 24 points to lead the Greyhounds. Assumption is now 11-11 overall and 8-9 in the conference, while Pace is 17-5 overall and 14-3 in conference play.
Senior guard LAURA MOONEY (Staten Island, NY/Saint John Villa) (11 points, nine assists), junior forward BRITTANY HUGGINS (Windsor, CT/Windsor) (11 points, eight rebounds), sophomore forward MARAL JAVADIFAR (Flushing, NY/Mary Louis Academy) (10 points) and junior forward KRISTIN CONNOLLY (Staten Island, NY/Saint Peter's) (10 points, nine rebounds) all scored in double-figures for the Setters.
After the Hounds' Meredith converted a conventional three-point play with 8:52 remaining in the first half to make it a two-point game, 12-10, the Setters ran a 19-2 spurt capped by a Javadifar inside move to move to a 17-point lead (29-12) with 3:55 remaining. Pace led 33-18 at the half limiting the Greyhounds to just seven-for-27 (.259) floor accuracy.
The Greyhounds host the University of New Haven in another Northeast-10 Conference game Tuesday at the Laska Gym at 5:30 p.m. The game will mark the team's involvement with the WBCA Pink Zone initiative bringing awareness to breast cancer. Pace hosts Southern Connecticut at its New York campus Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
