Saint Michael's stops Hound volleyball in NE-10 action

COLCHESTER, Vt. --- Junior outside hitter LINDSEY FRAZIER (Albany, NY/Colonie Central) led the attack with 10 kills as Saint Michael's College defeated Assumption College, 3-0, in Northeast-10 Conference women's volleyball action here last night at the Ross Sports Center.
Saint Michael's dominated the match winning in three straight games: 25-17, 25-14 and 25-19. The Purple Knights are now 8-18 overall and 2-12 in the conference, while the Greyhounds fall to 1-18 overall and 0-12 in conference action.
Sophomore middle hitter SAM LUPINSKI (Waltham, MA/Waltham) and junior middle hitter AIMEE DRAINVILLE (Rockville, RI/Chariho) recorded eight kills each, while senior setter KELLY BLUMENAUER (Islip Terrace, NY/East Islip) was credited with 21 assists. Freshman libero STEPH WHOOTEN (Norton, MA/Bishop Feehan) had 12 digs.
Playing well in support roles for the Purple Knights were freshman outside hitter LILLY LOWE (Marstons Mills, MA/Barnstable) who had seven kills and freshman setter KATIE WALSH (North Kingstown, RI/Prout School) with 27 set assists. Senior libero KELLY GARTHWAIT (Cheshire, CT/Cheshire) and Lowe both had 10 digs.
Assumption hosts conference rival Saint Anselm College SUNDAY at 1 p.m. in the Laska Gym. The team will honor its seniors before the match. Saint Michael's is next in action SATURDAY when they host conference rival New Haven at 1 p.m.
