Greyhound volleyball struggles at Saint Anselm Mixer

Match 1: Saint Michael's 3, Assumption 0

GOFFSTOWN, NH --- Freshman right side TRACY PETERKA (Dana Point, CA/Mater Dei) had 10 kills and junior captain/middle hitter LINDSEY FRAZIER (Albany, NY/Coloie Central) added nine as Saint Michael's College defeated Assumption College, 3-0, in women's volleyball SUNDAY at the Saint Anselm College Mixer.

The Greyhounds were led by junior middle hitter AIMEE DRAINVILLE (Rockville, RI/Chariho) with 10 kills.

The Purple Knights prevailed in the three games by scores: 25-16, 25 17 and 25-15.

Greyhound's senior setter KELLY BLUMENAUER (Islip Terrace, NY/East Islip) had 16 set assists, while freshman libero STEPH WHOOTEN (Norton, MA/Bishop Feehan) had 10 digs.

Leading the Greyhounds was senior outside hitter JESSICA HALLER (Meriden, CT/Maloney) with 15 kills, while senior setter KELLY BLUMENAUER (Islip Terrace, NY/East Islip) had 26 set assists and freshman libero STEPH WHOOTEN (Norton, MA/Bishop Feehan) had 16 digs.

The Greyhounds won the first game 25-17 before the Hawks dominated 25-16, 25-21 and 25-17.

Saint Anselm is now 3-1 overall and plays next at Dominican, NY SATURDAY in a trimatch with Philadelphi. Saint Michael's is now 3-2 overall and hosts Northeast-10 Conference rival Massachusetts Lowell WEDNESDAY at 6 p.m. The Greyhounds now 1-5 are off until WEDNESDAY (September 23) when they host conference rival Saint Rose at 7 p.m.
