Geoffrey Mock wins two events at Fitchburg State Invitational

FITCHBURG, Mass. ---Sophomore GEOFFREY MOCK (Sicklerville, NJ/Timber Creek) won both the 200- and 400-meter events to lead the Assumption College men's track team to a third-place finish in the Fitchburg State College Invitational event.

Senior BERNARD SCOTT (St. Petersburg, FL/Admiral Farragut) won the 100-meters (10.91) and junior ANTHONY DOWD (Somerset, NJ/Somerset) won the 110-meter hurdles (16.02).

On the women's side the Greyhounds finished seventh of 10 teams. Freshman LILY JORGE (Warwick, RI/Warwick) won the 100-meter hurdles to highlight the results.

Other top performances for the men included a third-place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:28.78) by sophomore KYLE HIGGINS (Braintree, MA/Braintree), a fourth-place by senior CHRIS O'DAY (Braintree, MA/Braintree) (2:02.02) in the 800-meters, and a fourth-place in the javelin (153-01) by senior CORRY FARRAND (Westford, MA/Westford Academy).

In addition to her first in the 100-meter hurdles, Jorge also took fourth in the 400-meter hurdles, while freshman CAITLIN PAULIN (Agawam, MA/Agawam) was third in the high jump (4 08.75).

The Greyhounds are next in action Sunday (April 25) at the Brown University Invitational in Providence, RI.
