Greyhound men's tennis sweeps past S.N.H.U. in NE-10 match

MANCHESTER, N.H. --- Assumption College broke into the win column in a big way Wednesday sweeping past Southern New Hampshire University, 9-0, in Norrtheast-10 Conference men's tennis action.
Junior TARIQ SHEIKH (Longmeadow, MA/Longmeadow) defeated Penmen freshman JARED WRIGHT (Norwell, MA/Norwell), 6-4, 6-0, at No. 1 singles; freshman DYLAN BAKER (Cherry Valley, MA/Leicester) defeated freshman TIM HAMILTON (Hampton, NH/Winnacunnet), 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles and junior/captain JIMMY MONGELLO (Plymouth, MA/Plymouth) defeated sophomore JOHN NILAND (Cheshire, CT/Cheshire), 6-2, 7-5 at No. 3 singles.
Freshman MATT DROLET (Cumberland, RI/Mount Saint Charles) defeated MING YANG CHOU, 6-1, 6-3 at No. 4 singles; sophomore JAYSON GALLANT (Marlboro, MA/Marlboro) defeated freshman BRENDAN HUSSEY (Barnstead, NH/Prospect Mountain), 8-5 and freshman PATRICK MURRAY (Cumberland, RI/Cumberland) defeated junior CORY LEFORT (Cumberland, RI/Cumberland), 8-2.
The Greyhounds, now 1-7, 1-6 in the conference, also swept the doubles action.
Assumption is busy this weekend hosting Franklin Pierce Saturday at 11 a.m. as part of a men-women doubleheader (the women host Franklin Pierce at 2 p.m.) and then play at American International College Sunday at 1 p.m. in two more conference matches.
