Sullivan record-setting performance, Mondi goal left Hounds past Stonehill and into Northeast-10 postseason

EASTON, Mass. --- Junior goalkeeper BRANDAN SULLIVAN (Halesite, NY/Saint Dominic's) made 12 saves as Assumption College defeated Stonehill College, 1-0, in double-overtime here WEDNESDAY to clinch their second straight playoff berth in the Northeast-10 Conference postseason.
Freshman forward DOM MONDI (Peabody, MA/Peabody) scored his fourth game-winner (and seventh overall goal) of the season unassisted at 105:18 to break-up the scoreless duel. Stonehill junior goalkeeper BRANDON MC FARLANE (Norwich, CT/Norwich Free) made seven saves for the Skyhawks.
The Greyhounds are now 9-5-2 overall and 6-4-2 in the conference (20 points) in fifth place. With Southern New Hampshire (10-0-2) (32 points), Franklin Pierce (9-2-1) (28 points), Le Moyne (8-2-1) (25 points) and Southern Connecticut (8-2-1) (25 points) already assured of hosting a first-round game, the Greyhounds will open on-the-road Sunday, November 1. The conference postseason playoffs are slated for November 1, 4 and 7. The Hounds are also ranked 10th in NSCAA/adidas Division II East poll for the second straight week.
With the shutout Sullivan extended his own team-records with his eighth shutout of the season and 15th of his career. He also lowered his goals-against average to a stingy 0.81 with his ninth win this season (9-4-2). And, it is the second time this season that he has posted three consecutive shutouts and has a 314:06 scoreless string intact heading into the Hounds' final regular-season match at Franklin Pierce SATURDAY at 2 p.m. He has shutout Merrimack (2-0), Bentley (0-0) and now Stonehill (1-0) in his last three starts.
Sullivan also set new team-mark for career minutes (4646) outdistancing Brett Miller (4618), who preceded him in goal (2003-06), and is the third Greyhound with 20 career wins behind Jason DuFault (25) (1998 01) and Tony Crane (20) (1978-81). Only DuFault (10-5 in 1999) has more wins in a single season.
