Tom Carroll's OT goal leads Greyhound men's soccer past Saint Michael's, 1-0

WORCESTER, Mass. --- Freshman midfielder TOM CARROLL (Belford, NJ/Middletown North) scored 1:24 into the first overtime period as Assumption College defeated Saint Michael's, 1-0, in a Northeast 10 Conference men's soccer game FRIDAY night at the Multi-Sport Stadium.

The Greyhounds are now 7-2 overall and 4-1 in the conference and remained a half-game behind first-place leader Southern New Hampshire (4 0-1). Saint Michael's is now 5-3-1 and 1-3-1.

Carroll scored his third goal of the season and second game-winner off a corner kick. Junior forward STEVE BLAISDELL (Peabody, MA/Bishop Fenwick) assisted on the play.

Hounds junior goalkeeper BRANDAN SULLIVAN (Halesite, NY/Saint Dominic) posted his fourth shutout the season making four saves. Senior keeper JASON BURNETT (South Burlington, VT/Pendelton) made six saves for the Purple Knights.

The Greyhounds outshot the Purple Knights 17-10 while each team had four corner kicks.

The Greyhounds are next in action WEDNESDAY at 4 p.m. when they travel to Northeast-10 Conference rival Le Moyne College. Saint Michael's hosts Bentley University WEDNESDAY at 3:30 p.m. in another conference matchup.
