Men's Soccer: Dominican rallies in second half to defeat Greyhounds, 3-2

    WORCESTER, Mass. ---  Senior forward JOE WRIGHT (Stratford-on Avon, England/Aleester) scored two second-half goals to lead Dominican College past Assumption College, 3-2, in the non-conference men’s soccer opener for both teams THURSDAY at the Multi-Sport Stadium.
    The Greyhounds struck first as junior forward STEVE BLAISDELL (Peabody, MA/Bishop Fenwick) scored at the 29:40 mark of the first half off a crossing pass from freshman forward DAN DAVIS (Shrewsbury, MA/Shrewsbury).  Junior midfielder PAT LINDBERG (Holliston, MA/Holliston) also assisted on the play.
    Dominican tied the game at 63:45 as senior defender DAN KELLY (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) converted a Wright feed to make it 1-1. 
    Wright scored 15 minutes later (78:25) to put the Chargers in front on a brilliant unassisted effort before the Greyhounds senior back DOUG STARBIRD (Dunstable, MA/Groton-Dunstable) on a feed from sophomore midfielder SCOTT BUCKHOLZ (Seymour, CT/Seymour) tied the game at 2-2 at 81:81.
    Wright scored the game winner at 89:00 on a looping shot over the goalkeeper on a feed from sophomore midfielder JOHN LANGDEN (Bellport, NY/Saint John the Baptist).
    Sophomore goalie BRANDON HEEMBROCK (Ottawa, Ontario/Saint Mark) made six saves in net for the Chargers, while freshman MATT WRENN (Windham, NH/Tilton School) had three saves for the Greyhounds.
    Assumption, now 0-1, hosts non-conference rival St. Thomas Aquinas SATURDAY at 4 p.m.  Dominican is now 0-1.
