WORCESTER, Mass. --- Junior goalkeeper BRANDON SULLIVAN (Halesite, NY/Saint Dominic) posted his first shutout of the season and eighth of his career as Assumption College defeated Saint Thomas Aquinas College, 2-0, in non-conference men's soccer SATURDAY afternoon at the rain-soaked Multi-Sport Stadium.
The Greyhounds evened their record at 1-1, while the Spartans are now 0-1.
Freshman midfielder TOM CARROLL (Belford, NJ/Middletown North) scored his first career goal on a 50-foot riser over the head of Spartan sophomore goalkeeper NICHOLAS CROCE (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac) at 31:59 of the first half. Junior midfielder PATRICK LINDBERG (Holliston, MA/Holliston) assisted on the play.
The Greyhounds scored an insurance goal in the second half at the 55:37 mark as freshman forward DAN DAVIS (Shrewsbury, MA/Shrewsbury) notched his first career goal on a semi breakaway. Junior midfielder JEFFREY SWAN (Fairfield, CT/Fairfield-Ludlowe) and Carroll assisted on the play.
The Greyhounds outshot the Spartans, 5-3, with Croce making the only save of the game.
The Greyhounds are at Felician College next SATURDAY.
