American International stops Greyhounds men's soccer, 3-2, in Northeast-10 Conference action

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. --- Sophomore forward THOMAS DENOMME (North Smithfield, RI/North Smithfield) scored in the 81st minute to lead American International College past Assumption College, 3-2, in Northeast-10 Conference men's soccer action SATURDAY at Ronald J. Abdow Field.
The Greyhounds are now 7-5-1 overall and 4-4-1 in conference play, while American International improves tot 6-8 overall and 3-5 in the conference.
After a scoreless first half, freshman forward CONOR DOYLE (Douglas, Ireland) put the Yellow Jacket on top, 1-0, beating Hounds junior goalkeeper BRANDAN SULLIVAN (Halesite, NY/St. Dominic) with a shot in the top right corner of the net from 25-yards out with an assist from sophomore midfielder DORU GOFF (Pembroke, NH/Pembroke).
The Jackets made it 2-0 as postgraduate forward OHIONAMEH AREGBEYEN (Brooklyn, NY) scored on a header off a cross from sophomore forward TIM BRITT (North Chelmsford, MA/Chelmsford).
The Greyhounds got on the board as junior forward STEVE BLAISDELL (Peabody, MA/Bishop Fenwick) scored on a penalty shot in the 79th-minute.
Denomme then scored his game-decider, his team-leading seventh goal of the season, at 81:12 with an assist from Doyle.
Hounds freshman forward DOM MONDI (Peabody, MA/Peabody) scored in the 86th minute to make it a one-goal game
Senior goalkeeper RYAN BROOKS-NEWTON (Selkirk, NY/Selkirk) made two saves in earning the win, while Suliivan stopped seven for the Greyhounds.
The Yellow Jackets outshot Assumption 20-15 and held an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks.
The Greyhounds are next in action WEDNESDAY when they host Merrimack College in another Northeast-10 Conference game at 7 p.m. American International is at Saint Rose, also Wednesday, at 4 p.m.
