Hot-shooting Saint Rose stops Hound men's hoop in NE-10 game

ALBANY, N.Y. --- Freshman guard ANDREW POPE (White Plains, NY/Iona Prep) scored 27 points to lead the College of Saint Rose past Assumption College, 84-57, in Northeast-10 Conference men's basketball Wednesday at the Nolan Gymnasium. Pope converted a season-best seven-of-10 three-pointers and added seven rebounds and four assists.
The Golden Knights sped to a 25-15 lead with 9:55 left in the first half as Pope scored 14 points including four of five from behind the three-point circle. He finished the half with 16 points as Saint Rose was in control, 42-25. The Knights converted 17-of-30 shots from the floor for a .567 accuracy and made six-of-10 from three-point territory. They finished the game with 11-for-22 from behind the arc.
Freshman forward RONSON QUICK (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) had eight points to lead the first-half offense for the Greyhounds who shot just .333 from the floor (11-for-33) and made just one-of-nine three-pointers.
Sophomore guard SHEA BROMIRSKI (Cambridge, NY/Cambridge Central) (16 points) and senior guard JERMAINE CLARK (Perth Amboy, NJ/Perth Amboy) (12 points) and played well in support roles for the Golden Knights.
Sophomore guard KEVIN DONAHUE (Pawcatuck, CT/Stonington) (12 points) and Quick (10 points) led the Greyhounds.
Assumption is now 10-11 overall and 7-9 in the conference, while the Knights advance to 11-10 overall and 8-8 in conference action. The Greyhounds are next in action Saturday when they host Northeast-10 Conference rival Pace University at the Laska Gym. Tapoff is slated for 3:30 p.m.
