Bluford leads Hounds past S.C.S.U., nears 1,000-point mark

WORCESTER, Mass. --- Senior guard/captain COURTLAND BLUFORD (Ft. Washington, MD/St. Vincent Pallotti) scored 19 points inching his way closer to the magic 1,000-point mark as Assumption College rolled past Southern Connecticut State University, 95-72, in Northeast-10 Conference mens basketball action TUESDAY at the Laska Gym.
Bluford now has scored 996 points in his career. Junior forward forward/captain MIKE BALDARELLI (Sutton, MA/Holy Name) scored 18 points with a season-high four three-pointers, freshman forward RONSON QUICK (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) added 15 points with six-for-six accuracy from the floor and senor center SAVOY FRAINE (Granada Hills, CA/Granada Hills) added 12 points. Freshman guard BOBBY HARRIS (Berlin, NJ/Eastern Regional) scored eight points with a season-high 12 assists and six steals in a support role.
Freshman guard TOBIN CARBERRY (Hamden, CT/Hamden) tossed in a game-high 31 points with two assists, three steals and six rebounds for the Owls, while sophomore forward KIERAN RAMSEY (North Hollywood, CA/Harvard-Westlake) (11 points, 10 rebounds) and junior center DEXTON WILLIAMSON (Bridgeport, CT/Central Magnet) (10 points, 5 rebounds) played well in support roles.
The Greyhounds sped to a quick 9-4 advantage as Harris scored on a nice inside move before Williamson hit a jumper and Ramsay a layin to cut the gap to 9 8. Assumption then went on a 19-2 spurt to take control at 28-10 as Baldarelli drilled three three-pointers in the run.
Assumption led 46-32 at the halftime break.
When Bluford connected on a pair of free throws 3:17 into the second half the lead had mushroomed to 59-36.
The Greyhounds are off for exams and play next when they host Bentley University SUNDAY (December 20).
