Quick, Baldarelli lead Hounds men's hoop past Pace, 82-79

WORCESTER, Mass. --- Freshman forward RONSON QUICK (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) scored 21 points and junior forward MIKE BALDARELLI (Sutton, MA/Holy Name) added a double-double 14 points, 11 rebounds as Assumption College defeated Pace University, 82-79, in Northeast-10 Conference men's basketball Saturday at the Laska Gym. The duo combined to make six-of-10 three-pointers.
Senior forward SAVOY FRAINE (Grenada Hills, CA/Grenada Hills) added 17 points (including 13 in the second half), while senior guard COURTLAND BLUFORD (Fort Washington, MD/Saint Vincent Pallotti) had 14 points (10 in the second half) and seven rebounds. Freshman point guard RYAN ROZSNAKI (Montreal, QUE/Landstown, VA) finished with a season-high nine assists.

The first half was a battle between Quick (15 points including three-for-three from three-point territory) for the Greyhounds and Howard (11 points) for the Setters. Hounds' freshman guard KEL HAYNES (Holden, MA/Wachusett) drilled a three-pointer with 1:29 left to cut the deficit to 35-33 at the break.
Baldarelli started quickly in the second half converting an inside move and then a three-pointer from the wing to give the Hounds a 38-35 lead with 19:21 left. The lead was extended to 10 points, 64-54, as sophomore guard KEVIN DONAHUE (Pawcatuck, CT/Stonington) converted a steal and layup with 10:14 remaining.
The Setters clawed back into contention and cut the deficit to four points, 77 73, as sophomore guard JUSTIN ALSTON (Bronx, NY/Saint Raymond) made a long three-pointer from the top-of-the-circle.
Hounds' freshman forward TIM BEINERT (Floral Park, NY/Holy Cross) and Baldarelli each made two free throws to extend the advantage back to eight points (81-73). Woods and Mills each hit three-pointers in the final minute to make the final close.
Assumption is now 11-11 overall and 8-9 in conference play, while Pace falls to 9-13 overall and 7-10 in the conference.
The Greyhounds host the University of New Haven in another Northeast-10 Conference game Tuesday at the Laska Gym at 7:30 p.m. Pace hosts Southern Connecticut at its New York campus Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
