New Haven stops Greyhound men's hoop in NE-10 action

WORCESTER, Mass. --- Senior guard DARRYL GREENE (Clinton, MD/Bishop McNamara) scored 21 points and senior center KELVIN JACKSON (Upper Marlboro, MD/Gwynn Park) added 19 points and 11 rebounds as the University of New Haven defeated Assumption College, 71-68, in Northeast-10 Conference men's basketball action Tuesday at the Laska Gym.
Freshman forward RONSON QUICK (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) (12 points, seven rebounds), junior forward MIKE BALDARELLI (Sutton, MA/Holy Name) (12 points) and senior guard COURTLAND BLUFORD (Ft. Washington, MD/St. Vincent Pallotti) (11 points, eight rebounds) led the Greyhounds.
Bluford connected on a lane jumper with 1:20 left to give the Greyhounds a 68-65 lead however senior forward CASSIUS CHANEY (Baltimore, MD/Old Saybrook/Notre Dame, MA) hit a three-pointer with 49 seconds left to tie the game at 68-68. Greene made two free throws with 15 seconds left to put New Haven ahead to stay.
Assumption is now 11-12 overall and 8-10 in the conference, while New Haven is 4-18 overall and 4-14 in the conference.
The Greyhounds are at Adelphi University Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in another conference game, while the Chargers travel to Le Moyne College with tapoff scheduled for 3 p.m.
