Bridgeport stops Greyhounds despite career-high 23 for Quick

WORCESTER, Mass. --- Senior center DEMETRIOUS PHILLIPS (Baltimore, MD/Northwestern) and senior forward KIRK WILLIAMS (White Plains, NY/Woodlands) each had 14 points to pace four double-figure scorers as the University of Bridgeport defeated Assumption College, 72-58, in a non-conference men's basketball game Monday night at the Laska Gym.
Freshman forward RONSON QUICK (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) scored a season- and career-high 23 points to lead the Greyhounds. Senior guard COURTLAND BLUFORD (Ft. Washington, MD/St. Vincent Pallotti) (14 points) and junior forward TOBIN HAASE (Southold, NY/Ridgewood, NJ) (10 points) played well in support roles for the Hounds.
Also in double figures for the Purple Knights was junior forward MSOO IKYAATOR (Nigeria, West Africa) (12 points) and senior guard STEVE MARTIN (Philadelphia, PA/Thomas Edison) (10 points). Williams led all rebounders with 15, including 10 on the defensive glass.
The Greyhounds, now 7-9 overall, are at Northeast-10 Conference rival Franklin Pierce University Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Bridgeport, now 9-7 overall, hosts Mercy College Wednesday at 7.
