Bernard Scott wins 55-meter event at Wesleyan Invitational

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. --- Senior sprinter BERNARD SCOTT (St. Petersburg, FL/Admiral Farragut) was the individual standout for Assumption College in the Swanson Invitational Track Meet hosted by Wesleyan University Saturday.

Scott. the premier sprinter in Greyhounds history, won the event with 6.49 time just 0.2 seconds off his team-record time set two years ago at the Smith Invitational (2/9/08). He also finished 18th in the 200-meter dash (24.12).

The top finisher among the women was freshman MOLLY KESSLER (Hopkinton, MA/Hopkinton), who took sixth in the 800-meter run with a 2:27.76 time.

Other standouts for the Hounds included senior captain KEVIN DABREIO (Billerica, MA/Billerica) with an eighth place in the shot put (41-01.50)---his career-best; junior ANTHONY DOWD (Somerset, MA/Somerset) with a seventh-place in the 55-meter hurdles (8.25).

The Greyhounds are next in action at the Terrier Classic at Boston University Friday.
