PORTSMOUTH, R.I. --- Sophomore forward TAYLOR LARSEN (Blackstone, MA/Worcester Academy) scored a pair of goals, including the game winner with 1:55 left in regulation, as Assumption College men's hockey defeated Salve Regina University, 3-2, in non-conference action Tuesday night at Portsmouth Abbey Arena.

Junior linemate PATRICK FITZGIBBONS (Worcester, MA/Saint John's) added a pair of assists for the Ice Dogs, now 10-8-0 overall. Assumption has now won four of its last five games. Junior forwards MATT KERVICK (Stoneham, MA) and BRYAN RUSSELL (Essex Junction, VT) scored for the Seahawks.

With the game tied 2-2 sophomore forward PAT O'KANE (Hollis, NH/Bishop Guertin) played the puck towards the front of the Salve Regina net and Larsen knocked the puck out of mid-air and past senior goalie RYAN COMERFORD (Merrimack, NH) to put the Ice Dogs ahead.

The Ice Dogs opened the scoring at 4:51 as freshman forward CAM MAILLET (Leominster, MA/Worcester Academy) was credited with his second goal of the season. He controlled the puck in front of Comerford before a Seahawk skater, in an attempt to clear the puck into the corner, put the puck into the net. Salve Regina evened the score at 16:16 of the period as Kervick redirected a shot from junior forward LEE TROUT (Rehoboth, MA) for his first goal of the season.

In the second period, Russell directed home a pass from junior forward JOE COLAIANNI (Monroe, NY) for his first goal of the season. Junior forward MATT NORRAIK (Rochester, NH) also assisted on the goal.

Late in the second period, the Ice Dogs received a third power-play opportunity and Larsen one-timed a pass from Fitzgibbons past Comerford at the left side of the net at 16:33. Sophomore defenseman Kevin Glanzman (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) was credited with the second assist.

Sophomore NICK BLANCHETTE (Stuart, FL/Worcester Academy) stopped 31 shots to improve to 10-4-0. Comerford made 25 saves for Salve Regina.
