HOOKSETT, N.H. --- Southern New Hampshire University scored two third-period power-play goals to rally past Assumption College, 2-1, in a Northeast-10 men's ice hockey game Saturday at The Ice Den.
The Greyhounds are now 12-10-1 overall and 8-2-1 in the conference, while the Penmen are 5-14-3 and 3-6-2.
Sophomore forward TAYLOR LARSEN (Blackstone, MA/Worcester Academy) scored the lone Greyhound goal with one second remaining in the first period. Sophomore forward PAT O'KANE (Hollis, NH/Bishop Guertin) assisted on the goal.
Trailing 1-0 entering the third period, the Penmen got on the board at the 6:03 mark of the frame as senior defenseman KENT HONEYMAN (Marietta, GA/Cushing Academy) converted on a 5-on-3 opportunity. Junior forward ANDREW HILDRETH (Leominster, MA) and junior forward TROY MAYBURY (South Portland, ME/Bridgton Academy) assisted on the goal.
Sophomore forward DOUG BOULANGER (Beauport, Quebec) scored the game-winner on another power play with 3:55 remaining as senior forward RYAN DI BARTOLOMEO (Leominster, MA) assisted.
Southern New Hampshire senior goalkeeper SHANE BROOKS (Kennebunk, ME) stopped 28 of the 29 shots he faced for the Penmen, while Greyhound sophomore goalie NICK BLANCHETTE (Stuart, FL/Worcester Academy) made 33 saves for the Hounds. The Penmen outshot Assumption 35-29.
The Greyhounds, who had already clinched second-place in the standings will draw a first-round bye in the upcoming conference playoffs.
