Merrimack blanks Greyhound field hockey, 3-0, in Northeast-10 Conference action

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. --- Merrimack College defeated Assumption College, 3-0, in Northeast-10 Conference women's field hockey action. With the victory the Warriors improved their team-record win streak to five straight.
Senior captain forward JACLYN GERMANO (Westwood, MA/Westwood) led the Warriors' offense with a pair of goals, including her team-high sixth of the season from freshman APRIL DAUGHERTY (Lincoln, RI/Lincoln).
Daugherty also added her third goal which became the eventual game winner when Merrimack earned their second shutout of the year.
Freshman goalkeeper KERRI BERGQUIST (Mashpee, MA/Mashpee) registered her fifth straight win with five saves for Merrimack, while junior keeper DANIELLE LUONGO (Northboro, MA/Algonquin) made 10 saves for the Greyhounds.
Merrimack outshot the Greyhounds, 21-14 and enjoyed an 11-5 edge in penalty corners.
The Hounds are next in action SATURDAY when the host Northeast 10 Conference rival Bentley University at 1 p.m., while Merrimack is at NE 10 rival Adelphi SATURDAY at 1 p.m.
