Bentley stops Greyhound field hockey, 2-1, in Northeast-10 Conference action

WORCESTER, Mass. --- Senior goalkeeper ALYSSA SLINEY (Brewster, MA/Nauset) posted the win with two saves as Bentley University defeated Assumption College, 2-1, in a Northeast-10 Conference women's field hockey game SATURDAY in the Multi-Sport Stadium.

The Falcons, now 6-2 overall and 1-0 in the conference, were winning for the fifth-straight game. They scored both of their goals within a three-minute span in the second half.

Senior midfielder COURTNEY BARTLETT (Brunswick, Me./Saint Mark's) opened the scoring for the Falcons with an unassisted goal, her fifth of the season, at 46:36 in a flurry in front of Greyhound junior goalkeeper DANIELLE LUONGO (Northboro, MA/Algonquin).

Just 3:02 later the Falcons struck again as sophomore midfielder STEPHANIE SIDELIS (Watertown, MA/Watertown) scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season on a feed from Bartlett to make it 2-0.

The Greyhounds scored on a penalty stroke by senior back AMY LOONEY (Wakefield, MA/Wakefield) at 53:52. It was Looney's second goal of the season.

Luongo ended with nine saves in net for the Greyhounds as Bentley outshot Assumption, 20-3. The Falcons also enjoyed a 7-3 edge in penalty corners.

The Greyhounds, now 1-6 overall and 0-2 in the conference, are next in action TUESDAY when they host Northeast-10 Conference rival Saint Anselm College at 7 p.m. Bentley travels to Stonehill College TUESDAY at 7 p.m. in rematch of their last defeat.
