WORCESTER, Mass. --- Sophomore forward AMANDA MC LEAN (Branford, CT/Branford) scored to complete a two-on-one break at 78:27 in the first overtime as American International College defeated Assumption College, 3-2, in Northeast-10 Conference women's field hockey action SUNDAY at the Multi-Sport Stadium.
The Greyhounds honored their six seniors before the game as Coach AMANDA HERYLA and Associate Director of Athletics PETER GARDULA presented Senior Medallions to midfielder ASHLEY RIVARD (Winchendon, MA/Murdock), defender MICHELLE PASQUALE (Shrewsbury, MA/Shrewsbury), forward HILLARY ZYSK (Walpole, MA/Walpole), defender AMY LOONEY (Wakefield, MA/Wakefield), forward SARAH RANIERI (Bellingham, MA/Bellingham) and forward APRIL BRUNELLE (Ashland, MA/Ashland).
The Greyhounds moved to a 2-0 halftime edge as Zysk scored an unassisted goal at 20:08 and then added a second to complete a penalty corner at 27:55.
McLean put the Yellow Jackets on the scoreboard at 47:25 in the second half on a unassisted play.
Sophomore midfielder LINSEY FERNANDES (Ajax, Ontario/Notre Dame Catholic) tied the game on a penalty corner at 59:56.
Sophomore goalkeeper KIM STEINER (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) made four saves to post the win for the Yellow Jackets, while Hounds junior goalkeeper DANIELLE LUONGO (Northboro, MA/Algonquin) had five saves.
American International outshot the Greyhounds, 16-12, while each team had nine penalty corners.
The Gryehounds are next in action TUESDAY night at 7 p.m. when they travel to Bentley University for another Northeast-10 Conference game.
