Hounds Tim Dupuis signs with Washington Nationals

    Assumption College senior baseball righthanded pitcher TIM DUPUIS (Suffield, CT/Suffield High) is one of five signings of non-drafted free agents by the Washington Nationals.  He is expected to be playing for the Gulf Coast Nationals (Gulf Coast League) based in Viera, Florida.
    He finished this past season 3-2 with an individual team-record 11 saves and a 3.77 earned run average and is the career closer for the Greyhounds with 28 saves (21 in the last two seasons).  He posted an 11-7 overall record with a 2.50 earned run average with 106 strikeouts in 122.1 innings in his team-record 94 appearances.  He allowed no home runs in his closer role for Coach GEORGE REIDY.
    One of the captains of the team, he was named a preseason all America by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and has been a member of the Student-Athlete Honor Roll seven times in his academic career.  He was graduated May 15 with a bachelors in English, Writing and Mass Communications cum laude.
    He signed with the Excelsior Spring Cougars of Excelsior Springs, Missouri in the M.I.N.K. League right after graduation.  In his only appearance for the team he pitched 3.2 innings allowing one hits and no runs with four strike outs.
    In 2009 he was named to the second-team Northeast-10 Conference all-stars and also the second-team Daktronics East Regional all-stars after helping the team earn its first N.C.A.A. regional berth since 1981.  He was also named to the conference all-academic team.
    The son of Phil and Judy Dupuis played for Coach ROB EGGLESTON at Suffield High (West Suffield, CT) and was a two-time all-Northern Central Connecticut Conference all-star.  He was named all-Connecticut (2006) as a senior.
