Lauren Keating leads women's soccer in 1-1 overtime draw with UMass Lowell in NE-10 action

LOWELL, Mass. --- Sophomore goalkeeper LAUREN KEATING (Nashua, NH/Nashua North) posted four saves to backbone the Assumption College women's soccer team in a 1-1 double-overtime tie with the University of Massachusetts Lowell in Northeast-10 Conference action here WEDNESDAY night.

Freshman forward JAMI STYRCZULA (Bradford, MA/Haverhill) scored the Greyhounds' lone goal in the 49th minute to give Assumption a shortlived 1-0 advantage. Junior midfielder KELLEY DE WALT (Londonderry, NH/Londonderry) created the play with a perfect crossing pass which Styrczula redirected past a prone junior goalkeeper JAMIE GILLIS (North Billerica, MA/Billerica) to the far post.

River Hawks' senior forward NATALIA MENDOZA (Haverhill, MA/Haverhill) scored the equalizer just eight minutes later for UMass Lowell. Junior midfielder JENNA MC INTOSH (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) volleyed over the defense to sophomore forward BRIANNE BOZZELLA (Wilmington, MA/Wilmington), who then redirected the ball to Mendoza for an open net goal.

UMass Lowell outshot the Greyhounds 11-5 overall.

The Greyhounds are now 6-6-2 overall and 3-5-2 in the conference, while UMass Lowell stands at 6-4-4 overall and 5-3-4 in the conference.

The Greyhounds host American International College in another Northeast-10 Conference match Saturday at 11 a.m. The men and women's alumni are slated to play a co-ed alumni exhibition friendly before the game at 9 a.m. The men's team will host Felician, NJ at 2 p.m. to complete the soccer-filled day at the Multi-Sport Stadium.
