Saint Michael's defeats Greyhounds, 5-0, in Northeast-10 Conference women's soccer

Saint Michael's 5, Assumption 1
WORCESTER, Mass. --- Sophomore forward JENN SENECAL (Yarmouth, ME/Yarmouth) scored two goals as Saint Michael's College defeated Assumption College, 5-1, in Northeast-10 Conference women's soccer action Friday night at the Multi-Sport Stadium.
The loss eliminated the Greyhounds, now 7-8-2 overall and 4-7-2 in the conference, from the postseason playoffs. Saint Michael's is also 7-8-2 and 4 7-2.
Senecal scored her fourth goal of the season off a rebound 7:50 into the first period. Senior midfielder LAURA ANACONE (Mansfield, MA/Bishop Feehan) scored her first goal of the season heading an errant clear into the net at 42:47 for a 2-0 halftime advantage.
The Greyhounds got on the board at 57:41 as freshman midfielder GABRIELLE LEAL (Ludlow, MA/Ludlow) scored her first goal of the season on a cross feed from sophomore defender KELSEY ABELEIN (Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy).
Saint Michael's then scored three goals over a six-minute span to salt the decision. Senecal got her fifth goal after collecting a pass from freshman forward LAURA OSTROUT (Northfield, VT/Northfield) at 75:23; freshman midfielder ANNE O'GORMAN (Tyngsboro, MA/Bishop Guertin) scored her first of the season unassisted from 10-yards in front at 78:19 and, finally, freshman midfielder TEAL BRYAN (North Yarmouth, ME/Greely) scored her fifth unassisted at 81:05.
Freshman goalkeeper ASHLEIGH ADAMS (Milton, VT/Milton) (85:43) and freshman MARY FARNSWORTH (Morrisonville, NY/Saranac Central) (4:17) made four saves for the Purple Knights. Sophomore LAUREN KEATING (Nashua, NH/Nashua North) (85:43) and freshman MOLLY MILLER (Middlebury, CT/Pomperaug) (4;17) made six saves for the Greyhounds.
Saint Michael's outshot the Greyhounds, 14-8, while Assumption had all four corner kicks in the match.
The Greyhounds will conclude their season Tuesday at Northeast-10 Conference rival Saint Anselm College at 3:30 p.m.
