Saint Anselm women's soccer stops Greyhounds, 2-1, in season finale

GOFFSTOWN, NH --- Saint Anselm College rallied from an early 1-0 deficit to defeat Assumption College, 2-1, in a Northeast-10 Conference women's soccer match here TUESDAY.
Sophomore forward TINA GILLEN (East Bridgewater, MA/Carver) put the Greyhounds in front 1-0 with her seventh goal of the season at 9:52 of the first half. Junior midfielder KELLEY DEWALT (Londonderry, NH/Londonderry) picked off a Saint Anselm clearing pass and sent Gillen in alone on goal. Gillen fired a low shot past Hawks' senior goalkeeper MICAELA SMITH (Andover, MA/Andover).
The Hawks senior forward MICHELLE NUZZO (Dedham, MA/Mount Alvernia) tied the game at 36:49 with her second goal of the season. She took a lead pass from sophomore forward ERIKA SARTOR (Andover, MA/Andover) and fired into the upper left corner.
Sophomore forward JENNIFER PEARL (Stoughton, MA/Stoughton) scored the unassisted game-winner at 73:35 with a brilliant move on two defenders for her sixth goal of the season.
In goal Smith made three saves in the first half, while sophomore JACQUELINE COONEY (Braintree, MA/Braintree) had one in the second half. Hounds' sophomore goalkeeper LAUREN KEATING (Nashua, NH/Nashua) made two saves.
Saint Anselm enjoyed a 14-8 advantage in shots, while the Greyhounds held a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.
Assumption finished its season at 7-9-2 overall and 4-8-2 in the conference, while Saint Anselm ended 7-9-2 overall and 6-6-2 in the conference.
