WORCESTER, Mass. --- Senior attack KIM BERLO (Scituate, MA/Scituate) scored a career-high seven goals and senior attack AMANDA PELLEY (Mashpee, MA/Mashpee) added five more including two in overtime as Saint Michael's College defeated Assumption College, 13-10, in a Northeast-10 Conference women's lacrosse thriller SUNDAY in the Multi-Sport Stadium.

For the Greyhounds, senior attack/captain SHANNON HOWARD (Norfolk, MA/King Philip) inched closer to the magic 100-point mark with five goals and an assists, while senior midfielder/captain MEAGHAN GALLAGHER (Wellesley, MA/Newton North) added two goals and an assist. Howard has now scored 56 goals (8th all-time) with 39 assists (3rd all-time) for 95 points in her career. She leads the team with 11 goals and six assists for 17 points this season.

The Greyhounds led 3-2 after a well-played defensive first half---scoring the final three goals of the period. After Berlo and Pelley had scored unassisted goals for the Purple Knights, sophomore midfielder ERIN THERIAULT (Feeding Hills, MA/Agawam), followed by Howard and Gallagher (in a man-down situation with 42 seconds left) gave the Greyhounds a one-goal advantage.

Berlo scored for the Purple Knights with 1:24 remaining as Saint Michael's took the lead again, 9-8, however, Howard on a nice feed from Theriault, tied the game at 9-9 with 55 seconds remaining in another man-down situation.

Saint Michael's outscored the Greyhounds 4-1 in the six-minute overtime session including two in a man-up situation.

Also scoring in the game for the Greyhounds were sophomore attack BECCA KELLEY (Westfield, MA/Westfield) and sophomore defender SARAH ROOS (Feeding Hills, MA/Agawam).

Sophomore MEGHAN MC LAUGHLIN (Cape Elizabeth, ME/Cape Elizabeth) stopped 18 shots to earn the win in net for the Purple Knights, while freshman goalkeeper JULIE VERBIC (Mansfield, MA/Mansfield) had 12 saves for the Greyhounds. Assumption outshot the Purple Knights, 34-31 and also owned a 30-27 edge in ground balls.

Saint Michael's is now 1-4 overall and 1-1 in the conference, while the Greyhounds are 0-4 and 0-3. Assumption hosts powerful Stonehill College Wednesday at 7 p.m. and Merrimack Saturday at 1 p.m. in two Northeast-10 Conference games. Saint Michael's hosts Franklin Pierce University Wednesday at 4 p.m.
