MANCHESTER, NH --- Junior attack CAROLE LEE (Derry, NH/Pinkerton) scored four goals and freshman midfielder JADE ANTONANGELI (Bourne, MA/Bourne) added three more as Southern New Hampshire defeated Assumption College, 21-9, in the Northeast-10 Conference opener for the Greyhounds.
Sophomore midfielder ERIN THERIAULT (Feeding Hills, MA/Agawam) and senior midfielder MEAGHAN GALLAGHER (Wellesley, MA/Newton North) each scored two goals for the Greyhounds, now 0-1.
The Penmen came out-of-the-gate quickly moving to a 3-0 advantage in the first seven minutes as senior attack MAURA MURPHY (Candia, NH/Pinkerton), postgraduate midfielder LUCRETIA JOY (Portland, ME/Deering) and senior attack JENNIFER PARRO (Ipswich, MA/Ipswich) scored. After Theriault scored for the Greyhounds, Lee scored three straight goals, her 12th, 13th and 14th of the season, to make it 6-1.
Southern New Hampshire outshot the Greyhounds, 46-15.
Freshman goalie JULIE VERBIC (Mansfield, MA/mansfield) made 12 saves for the Hounds, while freshman HANNAH MORIARTY (Chelmsford, MA/Chelmsford) and senior KATIE CLARK (Norwich, CT/Saint Bernard's) split the duties for the Penmen each making three saves in 30 minutes of work.
Also scoring for the Greyhounds were senior midfielder SHANNON HOWARD (Norfolk, MA/King Philip), sophomore attack BECCA KELLEY (Westfield, MA/Westfield), freshman midfielder ELAINE BOWMAN (West Hartford, CT/Conard), sophomore defender SARAH ROOS (Feeding Hills, MA/Agawam) and freshman attack DANIELLE D'AMICO (Johnston, RI/LaSalle).
Southern New Hampshire is now 3-2 overall and 1-0 in the conference, while the Greyhounds are 0-1, 0-1. The Penmen host non conference Dowling March 27, while the Greyhounds
