Bethany Plasski (21 points) leads Greyhounds women's basketball past New Haven, 76-66, in Northeast-10 Conference action

WORCESTER, Mass. --- Senior guard/captain BETHANY PLASSKI (Fall River, MA/Durfee) scored 21 points with three three-pointers as Assumption College defeated the University of New Haven, 76-66, in Northeast-10 Conference women's basketball action TUESDAY in the Laska Gym.

Freshman forward KELLY MEREDITH (Franklin, MA/Franklin) added 12 points and six rebounds, junior guard LESLIE LUPIEN (Pomfret Center, CT/Woodstock Academy) had 11 points, seven rebounds and three assists and junior guard MAEGAN COOK (Braintree, MA/Braintree) had 10 points in solid support roles. Senior guard TRISH GARDNER (North Dartmouth, MA/Dartmouth) finished with a season-best nine assists and three steals.

Junior guard HELIN MARTE (Woodhaven, NY/Richmond Hill) led the Chargers with 15 points (six rebounds), while sophomore guard DOMINIQUE STELLMACHER (New Britain, CT/New Britain) added 11 points.

The Greyhounds behind Plasski's 13 points led 37-32 at the halftime break however outscored the Chargers 44-29 in the second half. The defense was a true catalyst as the Hounds pressure limited New Haven to a 10-for-29 floor accuracy over the final 20 minutes including just one-of-11 from three-point territory.

Assumption is now 14-9 overall and 12-6 in Northeast-10 Conference action, while New Haven falls to 13-10 overall and 8-10 in the conference. The Greyhounds host the University of Massachusetts Lowell SATURDAY in the Laska Gym at 1:30 p.m. as part of the WBCA initiative "Get in the PINK ZONE" to promote awareness of breast cancer. Pink Zone t shirts will be on sale during the day.
