Le Moyne stops Greyhounds women's basketball behind three-point barrage

WORCESTER, Mass. --- Senior guard KATIE DUNN (Whippany, NJ/Morris Catholic) scored 20 points including six three-pointers to lead Le Moyne College past Assumption College, 80-57, in Northeast-10 Conference women's basketball action SATURDAY in Laska Gym.

The Dolphins, now 10-9 overall and 7-7 in the conference, made 14 of-26 three-pointer attempts. They led 36-34 at the half however shot a blistering .615 from the floor in the second half (eight-for-12 from behind the three-point arc) en route to outscoring the Greyhounds 44-23 in the second half.

Junior guard MAEGAN COOK (Braintree, MA/Braintree) scored a career-high 15 points including three three-pointers to lead the Greyhounds. Senior guard/captain BETHANY PLASSKI (Fall River, MA/Durfee) chipped in with 10 points and three steals. Senior point/captain TRISH GARDNER (North Dartmouth, MA/Dartmouth) had eight points (two three-pointers) and six assists.

Gardner made a three-pointer with 17:04 remaining in the second half to cut the lead to 45-43 however the Dolphins ran off an 8-0 spurt to lead by 10 points, 53-43, with 15:23 remaining.

Assumption is now 10-8 overall and 8-6 in the conference (sixth place). They play host to the University of Bridgeport MONDAY at 7 p.m. in a non conference game. They play Saint Michael's College WEDNESDAY at 7:30 p.m. in their next conference game.
