Stonehill defeats women's volleyball 3-1 in season finale

WORCESTER, Mass. --- Freshman outside hitter MICHELLE THORNHILL (Canyon Lake, CA/TemescalCanyon) registered 17 kills (10 digs) and senior outside hitter KATHERINE MASSON (Acushnet, MA/New Bedford) added 13 as Stonehill College defeated Assumption College, 3-1, in a Northeast-10 Conference women's volleyball match MONDAY night at the Laska Gym.

Stonehill won the match: 22-25, 25-22, 25-14 and 25-21.

The Greyhounds concluded their season at 3-17 overall and 1-12 in the Northeast-10 Conference. Stonehill kept their hopes alive for a conference postseason playoff berth and are now 19-10 and 7-6.

Before the game the team honored its lone senior, outside hitter NICOLE KFOURY (West Roxbury, MA/Mount Alvirne).

The Greyhounds were led by junior outside hitter JESSICA HALLER (Meriden, CT/Maloney) with eight kills and 12 digs, while junior opposite SARAH SULLIVAN (Bourne, MA/Bourne) also added 8 kills.

Sophomore setter MARILISA STRAND (Sarasota, FL/Cardinal Moon ey) finished with 34 set assists and 10 digs.

The Skyhawks also got superb performances from sophomore setter ANDREA WIRTH (Mesa, AZ/Saint Mary's) with 51 assists and 18 digs .
