Pace rallies to defeat Greyhound's volleyball, 3-2, in grueling NE-10 match

WORCESTER, Mass. -- Sophomore middle blocker SIANNA JOHNSON (Long Beach, CA/Long Beach Poly) recorded 12 kills and freshman setter SHEA HANSEN (Mesa, AZ/Red Mountain) recorded 41 assists to rally Pace University past Assumption College, 3-2, in Northeast-10 Conference women's volleyball WEDNESDAY night in the Laska Gym.
The Setters prevailed in the grueling five-set match 15-25, 22-25, 25 18, 27-25 and 15-9. The Greyhounds led 2-0 in games and 18-13 in the game three before Pace exploded for the final 12 points and a 25-18 win.
Pace is now 12-7 overall and 4-3 in the conference, Assumption is now 2-12 and 0-10.
For the Greyhounds, junior outside hitter COURTNEY STRATTON (Hudson, NH/Alvirne) ended with a career-best 15 kills and 20 digs, while three other Greyhounds junior outside hitter JESSICA HALLER (Meriden, CT/Maloney) (11 kills), sophomore middle blocker AIMEE DRAINVILLE (Rockville, RI/Chariho) (11 kills) and junior opposite SARAH SULLIVAN (Bourne, MA/Bourne) (10 kills) all reached double figures.
Sophomore setter MARILISA STRAND (Sarasota, FL/Cardinal Mooney) was a very effective catalyst with a 52 set assists---the second time her career with over 50 in a five-game match.
Assumption hosts American International College Saturday at 4:30 p.m. in another Northeast-10 Conference match.
