Bentley 3, Assumption 0

WALTHAM, Mass. --- Junior middle blocker Kristine MICKELSON (San Diego, CA/Scripps Ranch) and junior outside hitter Alex KEARNEY (La Jolla, CA/La Jolla) combined for 26 kills as Bentley University rallied from a late third-set deficit to post a 3-0 victory over visiting Assumption College in Northeast-10 Conference women's volleyball at the Dana Center THURSDAY.

Bentley, with the tightly-contested 25-22, 25-23, 26-24 victory, improved to 13-7 overall and 7-1 in the NE-10. Assumption is now 2-9 overall and 0-6 in the conference.

After giving Bentley a battle in each of the first two sets, it appeared that Assumption was going to force a fourth. The Greyhounds jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the third and used an identical run to open a 23-18 advantage. At that point, the Falcons scored eight of the final nine points to pull out the victory.

Junior outside hitter Courtney STRATTON (Hudson, NH/Alvirne) finished with nine kills, while sophomore middle blocker AIMEE DRAINVILLE (Rockville, RI/Chariho) had eight kills and five blocks.

Sophomore setter Marilisa STRAND (Sarasota, FL/Cardinal Mooney) (26 assists) and junior opposite Sarah SULLIVAN (Bourne, MA/Bourne) (10 digs) played well in support roles.

The Greyhounds are next in action Saturday when they travel to Southern New Hampshire University for a 1 p.m. Northeast-10 Conference match.
