Bethany Plasski named Northeast-10 Conference All-Star

The Northeast-10 Conference has announced its all-star teams for the winter sports seasons.
Freshman forward TAYLOR LARSEN (Blackstone, MA/Blackstone/Worcester Academy) is on the men's ice hockey all-rookie team and also earned Freshman-of-the-Year accolades in a vote of the league's head coaches. Freshman forward PAT O'KANE (Hollis, NH/Williston-Northampton) was also named to the all-rookie team.
Assumption College is also represented by senior guard/captain PATRICK SHEA (Salem, MA/Salem) on the men's basketball THIRD TEAM, by senior guard/captain BETHANY PLASSKI (Fall River, MA/Durfee) on the women's basketball THIRD TEAM and forward KELLY MEREDITH (Franklin, MA/Franklin) on the all-rookie team.
Larsen led the Ice Dogs in scoring with 12 goals, 13 assists for 25 points (eighth among Northeast-10 Conference skaters) and his shooting percentage (.208) also led the team. He has a pair of game-winning goals and led the team with six power-play goals. O'Kane was the second-leading scorer with 10-10--20 points and led the team with three shorthanded goals. Larsen and O'Kane also led the team by playing to a plus 6 plus/minus.
Larsen was a two-time Northeast-10 Conference Freshman-of-the Week twice, earned weekly honor roll twice and was named to the Assumption College Holiday Tournament all-tournament team. O'Kane was named to the honor roll once and was Freshman-of-the-Week once.
One of the more versatile players on the squad, Shea was a catalyst as the Greyhounds enter Tuesday night's Northeast-10 Conference quarterfinal playoff game at Merrimack College with a 19-9 overall record. Shea averages 9.1 points and leads the team averaging 6.3 rebounds. He also has 99 assists (second on the team), 13 blocked shots (second on the team) and is shooting .740 (71-for-96) at the free throw line (also second on team). He is generally credited with being the top defender on the squad by head coach SERGE DEBARI . He has 14 double-figure scoring games including a season-high at Bridgeport (November 16, 2008), at Saint Anselm (January 31, 2009) and against Bentley (February 24, 2009) on Senior Night as the Greyhounds stopped the No. 13 ranked Falcons, 79-78. Shea also earned weekly honor roll three times this season.
Plasski, the third-leading scorer in Greyhound women's basketball history with 1,456 points played more games than anyone in the program's history (117). This season she averaged 14.2 points and solidified her position as the program's No. 1 free throw shooter by making 107-of-123 from the line (.870). Her career mark of .828 is the program's top mark, while her 145 three-pointers is third. She finished with 24 double-figure games including five of 20 points or more. She scored 20 points with four three-pointers in her final game Sunday versus New Haven in the conference playoffs. And, she earned weekly honor roll 11 times this season.
Meredith showed the first signs of a significant career averaging 7.8 points and 4.7 rebounds as the first forward option off-the-bench for Coach KERRY PHAYRE. She had 10 double-figure scoring games including a season-high 16 points against Shepherd, WV College (November 16, 2008). She had a season-high 11 rebounds against American International College (January 8, 2009).
