Greyhounds win NE-10 Brunk Award for "institution sportsmanship"

June 1, 2009

The Northeast-10 Conference and the conference's Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) Council has selected Assumption College as the recipient of the 2008-09 David R. Brunk Award honoring Institution Sportsmanship. The award was presented MONDAY at the conference's end-of-the-year awards banquet in Mystic, CT.

Throughout the 2008-2009 academic year the Northeast-10 awarded one team from each of its 23 championship sports with the 'Team Sportsmanship Award' at the end of each season's championship segment.

The award is presented to the team that best exemplifies the spirit of sportsmanship and generally conducts themselves with a high degree of integrity, character and class.

Assumption received the 'Team Sportsmanship Award' in football, men's indoor track and men's lacrosse.

With 15 member institutions the Northeast-10 is the second largest NCAA Division II athletic conference in the nation. Its 23 championship sports provide athletic opportunities for over 5,500 student-athletes, the largest such program of any Division II conference.
