UMass Lowell downs Greyhound men's soccer, 2-1, in overtime Northeast-10 Conference action

Mass. Lowell 2, Assumption 1, overtime

WORCESTER, Mass. --- Sophomore forward STEPHEN POTCNER (Wilmington, MA/Wilmington) scored his second goal of the game with 40 seconds remaining in the first overtime as the University of Massachusetts Lowell came-from-behind to defeat Assumption College, 2-1, in Northeast-10 Conference men's soccer action WEDNESDAY night in the Multi-Sport Stadium.

Potcner cruised in alone on Greyhounds' sophomore goalkeeper BRANDON SULLIVAN (Halesite, NY/Saint Dominic) and beat him to right post.

UMass Lowell is now 7-2-3 overall and 6-1-2 in conference play, while the Greyhounds are now 5-5-3 overall and 4-3-3 in the conference.

The Greyhounds had taken a 1-0 first half lead as sophomore forward NICK FABRIZI (Farmington, CT/Farmington) converted a pass from sophomore midfielder PATRICK LINDBERG (Holliston, MA/Holliston) at 31:19. The River Hawks however came right back as Potcner scored to tie the game at 1-1 just five minutes later on an unassisted play.

The River Hawk's junior goalie RYAN RICHARDS (Holden, MA/Wachusett) posted the victory with four saves. The Hounds' Sullivan made eight saves at the other end.

The Greyhounds are next in action Saturday when they host nonc conference opponent Felician at 2 p.m. The Greyhounds co-ed alumni day games are slated for 9 a.m.
