WORCESTER, Mass. -- Assumption College scored two second-half goals and came-from-behind to defeat Saint Anselm College, 3-2, in a Northeast-10 Conference men's soccer game TUESDAY night at the Multi Sport Stadium.

The victory assured the Greyhounds of a seventh-place finish and their first Northeast-10 Conference postseason playoff berth since 2001.

Freshman forward ANDREW KROH (Mount Laurel, NJ/Bishop Eustace Prep) scored the most important goal in Greyhounds' soccer annals since 2001 at 80:15. His fourth goal of the season came as he took a feed from sophomore midfielder COLIN LYNCH (Weymouth, MA/Weymouth) and dribbled past a defender and tapped it past junior goalkeeper JOHN CORRIDAN (Holliston, MA/Holiston).

The Hounds, down 2-1 entering the second half, tied the game as sophomore midfielder JEFFREY SWAN (Fairfield, CT/Fairfield Ludlowe) scored an unassisted goal as he moved in on the keeper and drilled a shot over the prone Corridan into the upper right corner. It was his second goal of the season.

Assumption College finished its regular-season at 6-6-5 overall and 5-4-4 in the conference under second-year head coach JEREMY BONOMO. Saint Anselm completed its season at 6-10-2 and 4-7-2. The Greyhounds will open conference postseason action Sunday at Franklin Pierce, Southern New Hampshire or UMass Lowell depending on games to be played Wednesday night.

Southern New Hampshire is currently in first-place at 9-0-3 (30 points), Franklin Pierce is second at 9-2-1 (28 points), Le Moyne is third at 9-3-1 (28 points) and Massachusetts Lowell is fourth at 8-1-3 (27 points). Franklin Pierce plays at American International and Southern New Hampshire plays at Massachusetts Lowell in Wednesday night games at 7 p.m.

Saint Anselm opened the scoring at 30:35 of the first-half as senior forward SAM LAMPTEY (Worcester, MA/North) scored his 10th goal of the season on a brilliant individual effort. He dribbled past two defenders and found the high left corner of the net.

The Greyhounds came back to tie it at 1-1 as sophomore midfielder BRENDAN MC GEE (Merrimack, NH/Bishop Guertin) scored his third goal of the season on a shot from right side deflected in by a Hawk defender.

Saint Anselm retook the lead one second later (that's right!) as Lamptey scored his 11th from 50-yards out on a lob shot from junior midfielder RICHARD SIMMONDS (Hookset, NH/Hookset).

Saint Anselm with an 11-6 edge in the first half outshot the Greyhounds, 15-13. The Greyhounds did have a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.

Corridan made three saves in net for the Hawks, while sophomore BRENDAN MC CANN (Pepperell, MA/North Middlesex) made eight for the Greyhounds.

Earlier in the day, Bentley College defeated Saint Michael's, 4-3, to end in eighth-place with the final playoff spot. The Falcons ended the regular season 8-8-2 overall and 5-6-2 record in the conference. Saint Michael's finished 7-8-3 and 4-6-3.

The Greyhounds have played in three Northeast-10 Conference post season tournaments. In 2001, they lost at Southern Connecticut (2-1) before moving on to the ECAC tournament. In 2000 they played a scoreless tie with then New Hampshire College however did not advance losing the right in penalty kicks. In 1999 they were beaten by Merrimack (3-2) in their first game.
