Klaskin gets 100th point in men's lacrosse loss at S.N.H.U.

MANCHESTER, NH --- Senior attack MIKE BALL (Salem, NH) scored four goals and added two assists as Southern New Hampshire University defeated Assumption College, 12-8, in Northeast-10 Conference men's lacrosse action here WEDNESDAY night.
Senior attack KEVIN JURGENS (Needham, MA/Needham) led the Greyhounds with three goals (he now has 22 on the season) and an assist. Also, junior attack KEVIN KLASKIN (Norfolk, MA/Xaverian) became just the third Greyhound to amass 100 points in a career with a goal (his 20th of the season) and two assists. He now has 46 goals, 55 assists 101 points.
Justin Cecil (1993, 95-96) (91-61--152 points) and Dave Ducey (1981-84) are the only other members of the Greyhounds' 100-point club.
The Penmen scored six of the game's final seven goals en route to the victory. The Penmen trailed 7-6 following a goal by Assumption sophomore attack NICHOLAS VIOLANDI (Duxbury, MA/Duxbury) with 6:43 left in the third quarter. The Penmen scored the final two goals of the third period and a goal by freshman midfielder ANDY BROWN (Marshfield, MA/Marshfield) goal with 1:23 left gave SNHU an 8-7 lead after three.
Assumption got goals from freshman midfielder CHRIS NOYES (Tewksbury, MA/Central Catholic), junior midfielder MATT FLETCHER (Peterborough, NH/Contoocock) and sophomore attack JOHN MURPHY (Walpole, MA/Bridgton).
Brown finished with three goals for SNHU, which also got a pair of goals from junior attack MATT SOWLES (Cumberland, ME/Kents Hill). senior mdfielder SEAN BALL (Salem, NH/Salem), senior attaack DUSTIN LATHAM (Penacook, NH/Merrimack Valley) and TERRENCE NASH (Oceanside, NY) each registered a goal and an assist, while KEITH MERLUZZO (Billerica, MA) had three assists.
Junior goalkeeper DAN SHEA (Wrentham, MA/King Philips) made 15 saves for the Greyhounds and led the team with nine ground balls, while BRENDAN O'BRIEN (Hopkinton, MA/Hopkinton) made 12 saves for Southern New Hampshire as the Penmen outshot the Greyhounds 49-32.
Assumption, now 6-6 overall and 3-4 in the conference host Northeast-10 Conference rival Bentley University SATURDAY at 1 p.m. Southern New Hampshire is now 2-7 and 2-3.
