Greyhounds defeat Franklin Pierce, 18-4, in men's lacrosse behind John Murphy's five goals

WORCESTER, Mass. --- The Assumption College men's lacrosse team opened up Northeast-10 conference play with an impressive 18-4 victory over Franklin Pierce University here SUNDAY at the Multi-Sport Stadium. The Greyhounds were led by sophomore attack JOHN MURPHY (Walpole, MA/Bridgton Academy) (five goals, two assists), junior attack KEVIN KLASKIN (Norfolk, MA/Xaverian) (four goals, two assists) and senior attack KEVIN JURGENS (North Attleboro, MA/North Attleboro) (three goals, two assists).

The Greyhounds, who have won their last three games, built a 13-0 in the first half and outshot Franklin Pierce 41-27.

Junior goalkeeper DAN SHEA (Wrentham, MA/King Philip) (45:00) made seven saves allowing only two goals and for his third straight win in net and sophomore SCOTT VOGEL (Powell, OH/Olentangy-Liberty) (15:00) made one save for the Greyhounds. Franklin Piece sophomore goalkeeper SHEA CAMPBELL (Centerport, NY/Harborfields) made 12 saves.

The Ravens were led offensively by freshman attack JON AUTORINO (North Caldwell, NJ/West Essex Regional) who scored two goals. Senior attack RYAN BOLLER (New Canaan, CT/New Canaan) and senior midfielder JON PRIEST (Burlington, MA/Landmark School) added one goal each.

Assumption won 65 ground balls and were led by freshman midfielder CHRIS NOYES (Tewksbury, MA/Central Catholic) who had a season-high 12 ground balls, while Klaskin added seven.

Assumption, now 3-2 overall, returns to action Wednesday when they travel to Northeast-10 Conference rival Saint Anselm College at 4 p.m. The Ravens will also play Wednesday at Bentley University at 4 p.m.
