WORCESTER, Mass. --- Senior attack KEVIN
JURGENS (Needham, MA/Needham) scored five goals and added
an assist while teammate freshman attack WILL
LANGEVIN (Concord, MA/Concord-Carlisle) had four assists
and two goals as both totaled six points as Assumption College
defeated Anna Maria Colleeg, 21-0, in its men's lacrosse opener
Wednesday at the Multi-Sport Stadium.
The Greyhounds opened up a 7-0 lead and it grew to 12-0 by the
half. Assumption outshot Anna Maria 42-2.
Anna Maria freshman goalkeeper, HENRY TAYLOR
(Boston, MA/Arlington) kept busy in net as he faced 31 shots making
10 saves. Junior goalkeeper DAN SHEA (Wrentham,
MA/King Philip) (30:00) is credited with the win in net and
sophomore SCOTT VOGEL (Powell,
OH/Olentangy-Liberty) (15:00) made one save for the Greyhounds.
Assumption received strong play from several players including
junior attack KEVIN KLASKIN (Norfolk Ma,/Xaverian)
and sophomore attack JOHN MURPHY (Walpole,
MA/Bridgton Academy) both added four points as Klaskin scored three
goals and an assist, while Murphy added a goal and three assists.
Freshman attack TIM ROY (Avon, CT/Avon) scored
three points on two goals and an assist.
Assumption, now 2-2 overall, returns to action Sunday hosting
Northeast-10 Conference rival Franklin Pierce University at 1 p.m.
The Amcats will play again Saturday when they take on Morrisville
State at Union College at 1 p.m.
