Greyhounds men's basketball stopped by UMass Lowell, 74-65

LOWELL, Mass. --- Freshman guard KYLE CAIOLA (Parma, OH/Normandy) scored 19 points to lead four double-figure scorers as the University of Massachusetts Lowell defeated Assumption College, 74-65, in Northeast-10 Conference men's basketball action TUESDAY at the Costello Athletic Center.

Also reaching double figures for the River Hawks were junior guard KEVIN CARR (Lancaster, OH/Lancaster) (16 points, 3 steals), sophomore guard MAX KERMAN (Watertown, MA/Watertown) (15 points, 8 rebounds) and junior forward VICTOR COLON (Chicago, IL/Niles West) (10 points).

For the Greyhounds sophomore center SAVOY FRAINE (Granada Hills, CA/Granada Hills) (17 points, 2 blocked shots), senior guard/captain PATRICK SHEA (Salem, MA/Salem) (11 points, 4 assists), and postgraduate forward GREG TWOMEY (Groton, MA/Groton-Dunstable) (10 points, 6 rebounds) all scored in double-figures.

With the River Hawks leading 18-16 UMass Lowell outscored the Greyhounds, 20-10 the rest of the first half to take a 38-26 lead at the break.

In the second half the Greyhounds got back in the game as Shea hit on an inside move with 15;12 remaining he cut the deficit to 43-38. UMass Lowell then went on a 9-1 run capped by a Colon three-pointer to again take control, 52-39.

The Greyhounds are now off for first-semester final exams and are next in action at Saint Thomas Aquinas College Saturday, December 20.
