Ice Dogs, Suffolk skate to 4-4 overtime tie in non-conference game

WORCESTER, Mass. --- Senior forward KYLE COOK (Chino Hills, CA) scored a shorthanded goal with 37 seconds left as Suffolk University earned a 4 4 overtime tie with Assumption College in a non-conference hockey game THURSDAY night in the Buffone Rink.
The Greyhounds had scored two goals in the first 3:19 of the third period to move to a 4-3 advantage. Freshman PAT O'KANE (Hollis, NH/Williston-Northampton) scored on a feed from junior defenseman JON RETELLE (Monmouth, ME/Monmouth) just 34 seconds into the period to make 3-2 Greyhounds.
Suffolk junior forward PAT WELCH (Dorchester, MA) then tied the game at 3-3 just 16 seconds later. The Ice Dogs took the lead as freshman forward TAYLOR LARSEN (Blackstone, MA/Worcester Academy) scored on a feed from Retelle. Retelle finished the game with a career-best three assists.
Suffolk moved to a 2-0 first-period lead as senior defenseman MITCH SABO (Bell Canyon, CA) scored two power play goals at 11:39 and 16:38. The Ice Dogs freshman defenseman KEVIN GLANZMAN (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) put Assumption on the board at 18:25 from Retelle and O'Kane.
Sophomore defenseman MARC LABB (Longmeadow, MA/Vermont Academy) tied the game from freshman forward DENNIS SILVIO (Beverly, MA/Proctor Academy) and junior defenseman ADAM GAUDREAU (Londonderry, NH/Tilton School) at 19:48 of the second period.
Senior D.J. PINKHAM (Malden, MA/Arlington Catholic) made 21 saves, including six in the overtime session, for the Ice Dogs, while sophomore JEFF ROSE (Collinsville, CT) made 30 for the Rams.
Assumption, now 2-9-3, hosts non-conference opponent Wentworth Institute SATURDAY at 6:30 p.m. at the Buffone Rink. Suffolk is now 3-9-1.
