Stonehill defeats Ice Dogs, 4-3, in Northeast-10 Conference overtime hockey game

FOXBORO, Mass. --- Freshman forward BILL HARRIS (Weymouth, MA/Weymouth) scored his fourth goal of the season with 46 seconds left in overtime as Stonehill College defeated Assumption College, 4 3, in a Northeast-10 Conference hockey game TUESDAY at the Foxboro Sports Center.

The Skyhawks, who had a 65-30 advantage in shots countered every time the Ice Dogs scored before dominating the overtime period. Sophomore goaltender DEREK CHAPDELAINE (Granby, MA/Cathedral) made 27 saves in goal for Stonehill to post the win, while freshman NICK BLANCHETTE (Stuart, FL/Worcester Academy) had 61 in his first varsity start for Assumption.

After a scoreless first period, the Ice Dogs' MATT SAINT PIERRE (Alexandria, VA/Hebron Academy) scored his fourth goal of the season just 35 seconds into the second period on a feed from junior forward ADAM GAUDREAU (Londonderry, NH/Londonderry/Tilton) and sophomore forward MICHAEL DWYER (Somerville, MA/Worcester Academy). Stonehill's senior forward FRANK AMATO (West Springfield, MA/Loomis Chaffee) tied the game with his second goal of the season at 4:09.

The Ice Dogs retook the lead with a power-play goal as Gaudreau beat Chapdelaine to the glove side on a assists by Saint Pierre and junior defenseman JON RETELLE (Monmouth, ME/Monmouth Academy/Kents Hill). Stonehill's PAUL REISFELDER tied the game at 19:07 with his third goal of the season.

Ice Dogs' freshman forward TAYLOR LARSEN (Blackstone, MA/Blackstone-Millville/Worcester Academy) and Stonehill's freshman forward ANDREW DIOZZI (Belmont, MA/Deerfield Academy) traded third-period goals to set up the overtime.

Assumption is next in action December 29-30 when they host the first Assumption College Holiday Tournament. The Ice Dogs will face Johnson & Wales at 3:30 p.m., while Becker and Trinity clash at 12:30 p.m.
