COLCHESTER, Vt. --- Senior forward CHRIS HEALEY (Salem, NH) scored two goals and assisted on another to lead Saint Michael's College past Assumption College, 5-2, in Northeast-10 Conference ice hockey action TUESDAY at the Cairns Arena. The Knights converted three of seven power plays in the game.
The Ice Dogs got single goals from junior defenseman ADAM GAUDREAU (Londonderry, NH/Londonderry) and junior forward BEN KIRTLAND (Plymouth, NH/Holderness School).
Healey put the Knights on the board first with his second goal of the season 5:57 into the first period. Junior defenseman DAVID VOROZILCHAK (Clark Summit, PA) and junior forward ALEX HIGGINS (Phoenix, AZ/Kent School) assisted on the play.
Just 1:37 later Healey fed Higgins for a power play goal, his first goal of the season, to make it 2-0.
Junior defenseman TIM GEVERD (Philadelphia, PA) made it 3-0, also on the power play 6:17 into the second period before Kirtland score dhis second goal of the season from Gaudrea to put the Ice Dogs on the board at 11:39.
Healey made it a three-goal deficit once again with another power-play goal at the 16:30 mark.
The teams trade goals in the third period as Gaudreau scored his third of the season from sophomore defenseman MARC LABB (Longmeadow, MA/Longmeadow) at 7:49 and senior forward RYAN MERO (Peekskill, NY/Avon Old Farms) answered for Saint Michael's at 11:30.
Saint Michael's outshot the Ice Dogs, 52-28. Senior goalkeeper TYLER BILTON (Penticton, BC/Finlandia) made 26 saves to post the victory in net for Saint Michael's, while junior JAMIE DI GIULIO (Peabody, MA/Tilton, NH) was busy for the Ice Dogs with 47 saves.
The Ice Dogs, now 1-5 overall and 0-3 in the conference host Saint Anselm College TUESDAY at the Buffone Rink at 7;30 p.m. Saint Michael's is now 1-2 overall and 1-0 in the conference.
