Assumption, Framingham State battle to 4-4 overtime tie in non-conference hockey game

WORCESTER, Mass. --- Framingham State erupted for two goals in the final 2:10 to earn a 4-4 overtime tie with Assumption College in a non-conference ice hockey game SATURDAY at the Buffone Rink.

Greyhounds freshman forward TAYLOR LARSEN (Blackstone, MA/Blackstone-Millville/Worcester Academy) scored his second goal of the season at 8:33 to give Assumption a 4-2 advantage.

Then with 2:10 left junior BRETT CASAVANT (Gardner, MA/Gardner) poked in a rebound on the power play and with 1:50 left junior JOE HURLEY (Charlestown, MA/Winchendon) scored the game-tying goal. The teams played a scoreless overtime period.

Greyhounds freshman goalkeeper STEVE DI DOMENICO (Lowell, MA/Tilton, NH School) made 41 saves, while Rams junior keeper ANDY JOYCE (Milford, MA/Marlboro) made 29. Framingham State outshot the Greyhounds, 45-33.

The teams battled to a 2-2 deadlock after one period before junior forward FRANK BOVA (Princeton, MA/Wachusett) put the Greyhounds in front 3-2 in the second period. Bova scored his second goal of the season on a rebound as junior forward BEN KIRTLAND (Plymouth, NH/Holderness) and junior defenseman JON RETELLE (Monmouth, ME/Monmouth Academy) assisted on the play.

Freshman forward DENNIS SILVIO (Beverly, MA/Beverly) opened the scoring with his second goal of the year just 2:03 into the game, while the Rams senior forward SEAN MAGUIRE (Plymouth, MA/Plymouth South) tied the game at 4:54 off a rebound.

The Greyhounds sophomore forward PETER BOUCHIE (Belmont, MA/Belmont) gave his team the lead once again at 12:29 with his first of the season, before the Rams' junior forward JASON ANDERSON (Arden Hills, MN) score dhis second to tie it at the first break with his second goal of the season.

The Greyhounds are next in action TUESDAY when they travel to Stonehill College for a Northeast-10 Conference game at 7 p.m. (Foxboro Ice Arena). Framingham State is at Tufts University TUESDAY at 8:30 p.m.
