WORCESTER, Mass. --- Senior goalkeeper PAT GALLAGHER (Framingham, MA/Rivers School) made 23 saves in his first start of the season as Saint Anselm College defeated Assumption College, 4-1, in a Northeast-10 Conference ice hockey game TUESDAY night at the Buffone Rink.

The Greyhounds took a quick 1-0 lead as freshman forward TAYLOR LARSEN (Blackstone, MA/Blackstone-Millville) took a feed from sophomore forward MATT SCIOLI (North Reading, MA/North Reading) and soloed on Gallagher. Larsen's quick wrist shot found the upper right portion of the net just 1:44 into the period for his first career goal.

The Hawks however came back to tie the game scoring with just four seconds remaining in the period. Senior forward MATTHEW LOWE (Stoughton, MA/Northfield-Mt. Hermon) beat Greyhound freshman goalkeeper STEVE DI DOMENICO (Lowell, MA/Tilton, NH School) to the stick side low. DiDomenico made 36 saves in goal for the Greyhounds. in his second start of the year.

Saint Anselm took the lead in the second period on the power play as junior forward SETH GOODRICH (Salisbury, VT) scored his first goal of the season. Sophomore forward PAUL SNELL (Groton, MA) assisted on the play.

The Hawks scored two insurance goals in the third period as sophomore defenseman NICK WHEELER (Nashua, NH) scored his first of the seaosn and Snell added a power-play goal, his second goal of the season, at 19:35.

Saint Anselm outshot the Greyhounds, 40-24.

The Greyhounds, now 1-6 overall and 0-3 in the conference, are next in action SATURDAY when they host Framingham State College at the Buffone Rink at 4:30 p.m. Saint Anselm, now 3-0 overall and 1-0 in the conference, is next in action FRIDAY when they travel to Tufts University for an ECAC East game at 7 p.m.
